It has - unfortunately - been a very challenging few months for Victorians. We believe these floods have been the most impactful event for many years. Especially for Victoria’s heritage assets.

The steps to recovery can seem overwhelming. We've put together some resources that we hope will make clean up and recovery a little easier for you:  Disasters and heritage – getting prepared and recovery.

We've sourced existing resources from around the web and put them in the one place to keep things simple. There are resources for before (preparing) and after a flood (recovery and salvage). The list is in sections to make it easier to find what you're looking for. There are some videos and some written documents so you can hopefully find a format that works best for you.

Sadly, the current La Niña event may bring further rain this year and early into next year. If you can, now is a good time to review your disaster preparation plans. There is also information on the web page about how to do this.

Many local councils also have emergency management plans written specifically for your area. These will be available on you council's website.

Heritage Victoria passes on our thoughts and best wishes to all who are affected by this flood event. Our Heritage Recovery team are happy to talk to you about flood impacts and heritage places.

You can reach the team via email: heritage.recovery@delwp.vic.gov.au.
