Project Summary

Many historic buildings will have beautiful timber windows and Ercildoune, in Footscray, is one such Victorian Heritage Register listed property. The owners, the Footscray Historical Society, needed to repair the timber windows, sills and sashes of many of the double-hung timber windows. An 1876 former National Bank of Australasia building, Ercildoune is now used for research, gallery and an artists’ studio.

A $45,000 grant enabled the repairs and restoration to be undertaken using traditional methods, enabling more rooms to be used and activated by the local community.
