AIMA/NAS PART 1 MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGY INTRODUCTORY TRAINING

The Part 1 course is designed as a general introduction to maritime archaeology which includes at least 8 hours of classwork in addition to practical work on land or underwater. The lectures cover a wide range of issues that face maritime archaeology as well as workshops covering a range of skills including recording techniques and surveying methods. The course focuses on the importance of shipwrecks to archaeology and our national heritage in addition to the basics on how to locate identify and survey shipwrecks.
