The Maritime Heritage Unit manages shipwreck sites and associated shipwreck relics in Victoria.

We also manage maritime archaeological sites in Victorian coastal waters. As part of this work we maintain a register of all Victorian shipwreck sites, and a catalogue of shipwreck relics.

We prepare publications, exhibitions and interpretative material on shipwrecks and maritime archaeology in Victoria, and gives presentations to a variety of community groups. Publications and lectures are available for schools, universities, museums, other government bodies, special interest groups and the general public.

We work with volunteers on coastal and underwater projects, and on projects in the HV conservation lab. Go to our maritime volunteer webpage for more information.
