Most councils are eligible for dollar-for-dollar grants to part fund their Heritage Advisor Service. We also support the service by providing a professional development workshop program and an email chat group for heritage advisors and council officers.
Grants are available for stage 1, 2 and 3 local heritage studies and the digitisation of existing studies.
Heritage studies identify, assess and document all places of heritage significance within the municipality and make recommendations for their future conservation.
Traditionally, these studies have been limited to historic heritage places, although a broader assessment of cultural heritage places is encouraged.
We have a series of PowerPoints to help local councils make decisions about digitising their local heritage information into our management database HERMES and then make this information publicly available online.
