Melbourne's Golden Mile

Melbourne's Golden Mile Education Package gives students a good overview of the importance and dominance of the city and provides insights into reading the cityscape as a historic document.

This education package has been designed by practising teachers to enable Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) students from levels 4 to 6 to make use of this tourist trail. These materials are directly related to the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum and Standards Framework (CSF II).

The education package contains:

• The booklet Melbourne's Golden Mile:
• Teacher 's Guide to the Education Package;
• The Primary Section which includes organisation notes, pre and post-visit activities and The Walk for SOSE, English and the Arts Level 4;
• The Secondary Section which includes organisation notes, pre-and post-visit activities, and The Walk for SOSE, English and The Arts Levels 4, 5 and 6; and
• A resource pack of Images and bibliographic sources.

Aims of the education package

• Enable students to gain an understanding of the role and development of the city;
• Give students confidence in orienting themselves around a sect ion of Melbourne;
• Provide CSF related excursion act ivities and pre and post-visit material; and
  
• Provide access to resource material and additional information for extended work on the city.
