Guide to Grants and Assistance

(last modified 27/01/2009 11:21 AM)

This guide is for those engaged in heritage conservation and activities. It outlines the various grant programs and assistance that can contribute to conservation works at historic places. It also aims to provide information on other useful resources for community groups managing historic places or involved in heritage activities.

Across Victoria, many local communities are actively involved in heritage. Communities and individuals manage historic places, carry out conservation projects, develop collections, contribute to local planning, undertake research and publish histories. Communities are often the local guardians of heritage, playing a vital role in protecting, conserving and promoting heritage for all.

To assist groups and individuals, there is a brief summary of the known grant programs currently available. They have been divided into National, State, Local and Private/philanthropic levels. In most cases, a web address is provided for each Program and if possible, prospective applicants should check the site to obtain up-to-date information on the status of these programs. This document is produced by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and will be updated twice a year.
